A Westcliff pub where a father was fatally attacked has released the details of his funeral and wake.

The Lamb and Lion pub in Station Road had previously announced it is set to re-open next Friday, January 20, after Dave Peck was killed in an attack at the venue on December 23.

It has now released the details of the much-loved 51-year-old's send-off, at the request of his partner.

A spokesman for the pub said on Facebook: "I should like to announce at the request of Dave's Mrs the details for Dave's funeral, wake and send off.

"The proceedings will begin at the Lamb and Lion public house 272-274 Station Road, Westcliff, SS0 7SD on Wednesday, February 1 2023 at midday.

"The funeral procession will leave the pub shortly after

"And the funeral is at 2.40pm at Southend Crematorium

"Once finished the wake will then be held at the Lamb and Lion once again.

"All our love to Dave's family and friends in this time of need. God bless Dave from all of us the Lamb and Lion public house."

Mr Peck's family described him as "a much-loved partner, father, son and brother" in a heartfelt tribute following his death.

A man has appeared in court charged with murder following Mr Peck's death.

Alfred Turner, 44, of Station Road, Westcliff, appeared in court charged with murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and two counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He is next due in court on February 13.
