Plans to revamp Southend High Street's former Miss Selfridge shop into three commercial units have been unveiled.

A planning application has been submitted to Southend City Council to revamp the former women's clothing shop in the city centre, which has been empty since 2019.

Applicants Ellaron Ltd plan to convert the existing basement and ground floors into three commercial units, cycle store, locker store, and to change the shop front.

They also want to demolish the goods lift to the rear first and second floors.

It appears two of the proposed commercial units would be shops and one would be financial and professional services.

The commercial units' proposed opening hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

The financial and professional services would also be open 9am to 6pm on the weekends while the shops would open 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.

The proposal does not include the gain, loss or change of use of any residential units.

Miss Selfridge was part of the Arcadia Group which went into administration in late 2020.

The brand was purchased by ASOS in 2021 and now operates exclusively online.

Southend City Council will decide on the plans.
