POLICE have been carrying out high visability patrols following the launch of an attempted murder probe.

The attempted murder probe comes after a man was stabbed and suffered facial injuries during an attack. 

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the victim was stabbed inside a home in Paddocks Close, Canewdon. 

The victim’s injuries are considered to be “life-changing”, with an air ambulance landing at the scene and transporting him to a London hospital.

Police and forensic units remained at the scene yesterday as they carried out investigations into the incident, after initially being called to the home at 8.55am on Sunday. 

Det Insp Nick Brunton, who is leading the investigation, said: “We understand that this will cause concern in the community, but we’d like to reassure our residents that there is no wider risk.

“Officers are carrying out high visibility reassurance patrols and remain in the area to answer anyone’s concerns.

“If you know anything about this incident that may help our investigation, please call us or approach one of our officers and tell them what you know.”

One resident, living nearby, said officers had carried out door-to-door enquires asking whether residents had seen anyone acting suspicious on Sunday morning. 

A spokesman for Essex Police added: “We were called just before 8.55am on Sunday to reports of an injured man at a property in Paddocks Close, Canewdon.

“Officers attended and found a man, in his 20s, had sustained a single stab wound and facial injuries.

“Officers have arrested two men, aged 31 and 27 and from the Southend area, on suspicion of attempted murder.

“They remain in police custody for questioning.”

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance, an ambulance office vehicle, and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to a Canewdon address on Sunday morning following reports that a man had been stabbed.

“One patient was taken by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries.”
