A driver was arrested on the A127 last night after their car was stopped as an officer's "sixth sense was tingling".

A transporter was pulled over on the major south Essex road in Rayleigh after police found it suspicious.

Police say the Ford Fiesta on the back of the vehicle was found to be on false plates and recently stolen.

The car was searched and officers reported finding items for car theft alongside a knife.

The driver has been arrested and both vehicles were recovered by Essex Police.

A spokesman for Essex Police's operational support group said: "This transporter was stopped last night on the A127 at Rayleigh as the sixth sense was tingling.

"The fiesta on the back was on false plates and recently stolen.

"Items for car theft were also found along with a knife. Driver arrested and vehicles recovered."
