A MOTORCYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in south Essex.

Last night, police were called to Wickford at around 7:13pm following a serious crash involving a motorcycle.

At 10:30pm, Golden Jubilee Way, Wickford, was closed southbound (towards Basildon) between Runwell Road (Texaco end) and the next roundabout (A129/Radwinter Avenue).

Following the crash, a man has been flown by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.

A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to the A132 near Wickford on Sunday evening, January 29, following reports of a motorcyclist injured in a road traffic collision.

“One man with serious injuries was flown by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.”

 

Essex Police is now appealing for witnesses to come forward. 

A spokesman added: "We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Wickford yesterday evening.

"Officers were called to Golden Jubilee Way near the roundabout on Runwell Road in Wickford at 7:13pm following reports of a single motorcycle collision. 

"The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The road remained closed for several hours but reopened around midnight.

"We are appealing to anyone who could help us with this investigation to get in contact.

"If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

"Please quote incident 940 of 29 January when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible."
