FROM a visit from The Poddington Peas to Valentine’s Day at Valentine Lodge, we dip into the Echo archives to reveal what life was like in the nineties on Canvey.

Taken from the Canvey Community Archives, these images show some of the fun times enjoyed in that era.

It was book week at Canvey Junior School in 1990 when young Davina Neugent-James, then nine, dressed up as her favourite book character.

The following year at the school the kids were getting artistic with an picture painting competition judge by Eddie Stacy.

That same year netball coach Ingrid Megraw showed Jessica Taylor and Nicola Percy how to play the sport at the Waterside Playleadership Scheme.

There were a bunch of happy peas in 1992 at the opening of the Canvey’s St Nicholas Family Centre in Long Road when cartoonist Colin Wyatt and his Poddington Peas characters paid a visit.
