WE are harking back to school days in Basildon in the eighties and nineties.

We dip into the Echo archive at Basildon Borough Heritage group to unearth some fond memories of school life.

What a time it was, from walkathons to a falconer visit when pupils at Ghyllgrove School were told to “duck!” when a swooping owl flew too low.

Those who went to school in Basildon, they might spot themselves in the photos of school days at Greenstead Primary, Bardfield School, Fryerns Comprehensive School, Bryn Primary School, Whitmore Primary school, Elmbrook School and Ghyllgrove School.
