A NEW Turkish restaurant is set to be built on the site of a former car dealership.

Plans have been agreed for the new business at the former site of Longman Motors in East Mayne, Basildon.

The plans say the intended opening hours for new restaurant are 7am to 11pm Mondays to Saturdays.

On Sundays and Bank Holidays the open hours are set to be 9am to 11pm.

The business is set to employ 10 full time and 10 part time staff.

The unit has been vacant for a period of time, having last been used in connection with a car sales business.

"Given that the application site is adjacent to existing leisure and restaurant uses and the proposal will bring back into use the vacant site it is considered that the proposed use could be acceptable in principle, and consideration of the detailed aspects of the scheme, such a visual impact, the effect on neighbouring occupiers, and parking issues therefore need to be assessed."
