Gavin and Stacey actors visited south Essex this week for special filming ahead of a news series for the hit comedy show.

Stars Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb, met with mayor of Basildon Luke Mackenzie yesterday in the town for a tour and tree planting.

The pair are reuniting for brand new UKTV Original series, Alison & Larry: Billericay to Barry.

Mr Mackenzie said: "I gave them a tour of Billericay, it was the first time they had visited and we planted a tree and place a plaque in Lake Meadows Park to show the town's links.

"It was part of the new series and there were camera crews, I told them about the history of the town.

"It is really exciting for the town and borough and I was filmed for the show, which I haven't done before.

"I have watched the show and it is funny and enjoyable. Both the actors were really nice and it was nice to meet them both."

Gavin and Stacey returns to TV with Billericay reference

Alison and Larry: Billericay to Barry finds the nation's favourite TV Essex couple Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb taking a trip down memory lane as they make the iconic highly referenced road trip from Billericay to Barry - the long way round!

Across three episodes, Alison and Larry will make the 210 mile journey whilst stopping off at beauty spots in the glorious countryside and visiting locations that have an intimate connection to them and Gavin and Stacey.

In addition to taking part in activities designed to unleash their inner 'Pam and Mick', they'll get the chance to meet up with old friends from the show along the way.
