A MAN has been arrested after a police chase along the A13 following an aggravated burglary in Benfleet.

A 37-year-old man from Dagenham was arrested following reports of an aggravated burglary in Benfleet where the victim was threatened and had his car stolen.

Essex Police say the vehicle then failed to stop for the police continuing along the A13.

Eventually the vehicle was brought to a stop and the suspect was arrested.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “A 37-year-old man from Dagenham was arrested on March 18 following an aggravated burglary in Benfleet.

“During the burglary the victim was threatened, and his car stolen.

“The vehicle failed to stop for the police and continued towards London along the A13.

“The vehicle was eventually brought to a stop and the suspect was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, robbery, dangerous driving, and fail to stop for police.”
