Easter bonnet parades have been an annual event on Canvey for decades.

The fun activity of making a special bonnet for Easter, in the hope it will get picked as the winner, is one of the joys of the Easter holiday period.

We take a look at the Canvey Community Archives and delight in the wonderful Easter competitions of the past.

Back in the eighties at the Sydervelt Centre the Women’s Royal Voluntary Services had many wonderful times at their annual Easter club lunch.

There were more interesting designs in the Easter bonnet parade at the Paddocks in 1986 where Eve Robins came first place.

In 2017 the tradition was kept alive when hundreds of people turned out to enjoy an Easter egg trail around the West Canvey Marshes.

The event, which was organised by the Rotary Satellite Club of Canvey and the RSPB, saw lots of activities on offer including some fun Easter craft fun.
