Two men were injured in a "disturbance" in Stanford-le-Hope, sparking a police appeal.

Officers were called to Abbotts Drive shortly after 10.20am yesterday morning, to reports of two men having been injured, one of them had been hit with a vehicle and the second man was assaulted. 

Police say neither of the men are considered to be in be in a life-threatening condition but they were taken to hospital for treatment.

The vehicle involved in the incident was then driven away from the scene.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We now believe we have identified it and we’re asking the public to be vigilant and report any sightings of a black 12-plate Vauxhall Insignia which may appear to be abandoned. 

"We believe it will be damaged on its side and on its wing mirrors.  We need anyone with information to get in touch.
