Mr Francois said: “Having known this school well for over twenty years I was surprised to learn that that Sweyne Park has been downgraded by Ofsted from ‘outstanding’ to ‘requires improvement’.

“Nevertheless, I have great confidence in the head, Mrs Dines, and her team at the school and I am sure that any issues, which apparently relate to behaviour can and will be rectified.

“In short, I stand by the school.”
