CASTLE Point Council will remain an Independent-run authority - albeit with no overall majority - after opposition parties failed to de-throne the current regime.
The Canvey Island Independent Party and The People's Independent Party have clung to power in Castle Point following this year's local elections.
The two parties first gained combined control in the May 2022 local elections, which marked the first time since 2003 that the Tories had not had overall control.
Voting took place on Thursday until the polls closed at 10pm, before the results were announced in the early hours of Friday morning.
The Conservatives were unable to take any new seats from the Independent parties.
Councillor Dave Blackwell, leader of the Canvey Island Independent Party said: "We are so pleased that we had such a good turnout and that the residents of Carvey Island have put their trust in us and we will not let them down.
"It has been a powerful year and we continue to promise people we will achieve our promises.
"Things are in place for good things to happen on Canvey Island - people have put their trust in us and we will not disappoint."
In each of the wards, one seat was up for grabs.
