A MAN suffered a gunshot wound following an incident in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to a car park in Frobisher Way, Shoeburyness, just after 2am on Sunday to reports of a man being shot in the leg.

He was taken to the hospital and his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made so far but an investigation is ongoing and a number of officers have been carrying out inquiries.

Chief Insp Daniel McHugh said: “I understand how concerning this incident is to the local community.

“We have resourced this investigation heavily and have a number of officers dedicated to carrying out enquiries today, including taking statements and gathering evidence at the scene.

“No arrests have been made at this stage, but I can assure the public that we are doing everything possible to identify who is responsible.

“If anyone was in the area this morning and witnessed anything suspicious, please contact us and assist with this investigation.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is being asked to contact police to assist them in the investigation.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers were called to car park on Frobisher Way following reports of a man being shot in the leg.

“Officers including armed response officers attended along with the ambulance service.

“The victim was taken to hospital where he remains. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
