A police cordon is in place outside Southend Hospital this evening as a road nearby is closed off amid an incident.
Prittlewell Chase, close to the hospital, is currently taped off by police with the road blocked off heading west towards Leigh.
According to witnesses, there are up to four police cars in attendance.
AA traffic updates shows severe delays in the busy road outside the hospital.
First Essex says the incident is a "serious crash".
A spokesman for the bus service tweeted: "Serious RTC on Westbound Prittlewell Chase, opposite Southend Hospital.
"20, 21, 25 will divert from Southend to Basildon/Hullbridge/Canvey via Hobleythick Lane and Carlton Avenue. The 3 will divert via the A127 to Eastwood Road North."
Essex Police have been contacted for comment.
