In an article headlined “Railway Hotel in Southend sees plan to evict man living in iconic venue” and “Man living illegally in boarded up pub as owners prepare to send in bailiffs”, we stated as fact that an individual living above the Railway Hotel had no legal right to reside there.
However, no legal finding regarding the individual’s right to reside at the property had been made at time of publication, and this claim was in fact the pub owner’s position.
This correction has been published following an upheld complaint to the Independent Press Standards Organisation.
