A MAJOR road will shut for a day following work to replace a manhole cover.

In an effort to ensure the safety of the public and workers, a road closure will be implemented on Long Road in Canvey on Monday, June 19.

The closure is expected to last for one day and is necessary for Anglian Water to carry out essential manhole cover replacements.

Anglian Water has collaborated with the council and transportation agencies to devise alternative routes and signage to redirect traffic during the closure period.

Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and consider using alternative routes to avoid congestion.

A spokesman from Castle Point Borough Council said: "There will be a road closure on Long Road, due to commence on June 19 for one day.

"The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Anglian Water undertakes manhole cover replacement."
