The location where Crowstone Road meets Britannia Road in Westcliff certainly looked different in bygone years.
Looking down the road there are a great deal fewer properties in the area.
There is a large, ornate, private property with a white picket fence surrounding it.
In the distance appears to be a field, depicting a more rural way of life.
Then and now - the view looked different before Britannia Court was built (Image: Jon Wennington)
A horse and cart being driven down the road replaced the cars shown in the contemporary image, sourced by Jon Wennington from Pinterest, member of the Ros Southend Past in Photos. Old Southend and memories Facebook group.
The original building has been replaced with Britannia Lodge where it shows the current building’s exterior layout.
What does remain is the train line in Westcliff, taken from the exact angle of the original photo.
