Police investigating the disappearance of Patricia Finnie have completed search activity at Hockley Woods.
Specialist police officers and staff began search work at the large woodland last Tuesday (June 13) as part of their probe after a man in his 70s was arrested on suspicion of Patricia’s murder.
Patricia was 64 when she went missing from Southend on May 11 2017. She was last seen in the Bellevue area at around midday, having been to visit a friend in Riviera Drive earlier in the day.
Her disappearance has been reviewed by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate and is now being treated as a homicide.
Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby, Head of Major Crime, said: “We have now completed search activity at Hockley Woods and it is completely open for the public again.
“This was painstaking work and we recovered a number of items and work remains ongoing to ascertain if they are linked to Patricia’s disappearance.
“Our investigation into what happened to Patricia is continuing and I still need anyone who has information to contact us.”
The man in his 70s arrested on suspicion of Patricia’s murder is on bail until September 10.
