A MAJOR south Essex road has been partially closed due to a “serious collision”.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on the A13 this evening (July 20).

The incident took place on the London-bound carriage way past the Orsett Cock roundabout.

Essex Police are asking the public to “avoid the area” and plan future journeys.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We are currently on scene of a serious collision on the A13.

“Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on the London-bound carriageway just past the Orsett Cock roundabout at around 8.25pm today.

“The road is currently closed, and a diversion is in place.

“We are expecting the road to remain shut for some time and are asking the public to avoid the area and plan your journey.

“We also need anyone who saw what happened or who has dash cam footage to contact us.

“Please quote incident 1462 of 20 July.”
