SOUTHEND Airport’s freshly-bolstered list of destinations now includes eight holiday hotspots as easyJet continues to rebuild its offering after the Covid pandemic wreaked havoc on the airline industry.

Over the last two years, the number of flights has risen rapidly with the airport now offering Alicante, Paris, Amsterdam, Geneva, Bourgas, Malaga, Faro, and Majorca. Here, the Echo takes a look at all the destinations now on offer.

Alicante, Spain

Alicante is one of the sunniest cities in Europe with an average of 349 hours of sun each month. Visitors will be able to explore the old town centre’s maze of narrow streets, coloured houses, as well as its popular nightlife. The city is also known for its mile-long beaches and picturesque beauty.

Paris, France

Paris is the centre for art, fashion, culture, and “love”. Stand-out attractions in Paris include the Eiffel Tower, while visitors can also take a trip to Disneyland Paris. Other areas on offer are a trip to the Louvre, as well as a number of river guided boat tours.

Amsterdam Netherlands

Amsterdam is the capital of Netherlands and is known for its “artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses”. Some of the top attractions include visits to the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, as well as the Anne Frank House. 4. Geneva Switzerland: Geneva is a stunning city that is surrounded by the Alps and Jura mountains. One of the most popular attractions to see if the Geneva Water Foundation - which is one of the tallest in the world.

Bourgas, Bulgaria

Bourgas is on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast has spectacular beaches and is known as a “shoppers paradise”. Next year's flights from Southend Airport will be operated by Balkan Holidays.

Malaga, Spain

Malaga is best known for its extraordinary art culture and museums - including the Picasso Museum. It also boasts more than 15 beaches.

Faro, Portugal

Faro is the captain of southern Portugal’s Algarve region, and home to many fascinating historical landmarks including the Largo Da Se. Outside of the city walls is a vibrant city with shopping streets, characterful plazas, and restaurants and bars.

Palma, Majorca

Palma is a resort city and capital of the Spanish island of Majorca. A part from enjoying the beaches some of the other attractions include boat cruises, the Catedral de Mallorca, and Palma Aquarium.
