BASILDON Crown Court has handed out significant sentences to criminals this month for shootings, stabbings, robberies and sex crimes.

Here is our round-up of the latest crown court cases that saw defendants jailed.

Perry Coulson

Perry Coulson, 39, of Lesney Gardens, Rochford, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Dominic Clark-Ellingford, 32, last November.

Coulson killed Mr Clark-Ellingford by stabbing him through the heart following an argument at the defendant’s Rochford flat.

It was claimed that the two had argued before Perry Coulson fatally assaulted the victim with a large zombie knife. 

He appeared in Basildon Crown Court on August 11 and was sentenced by Judge Samantha Leigh.

Forrest Bentick, Adem Yildiz and Rio Burton-Devine

This trio was sentenced after a firearm was used in Lakeside Retail Park last September.

Forrest Bentick and Rio Burton-Devine confronted a group of men and an ‘imitation firearm’ was brandished from a green bandana.

Witnesses reported hearing loud bangs and seeing smoke emanating from the firearm.

Bentick was believed to be living at an address in Huntsman Drive, Ilford.

Police raided the address on October 10 and found Adem Yildiz living there as well.

Cocaine, MDMA and 4kg of cannabis and £6960 was found at the address with a further £17,850 belonging to Bentick found at a separate address.

Bentick was jailed for 13 years and six months for firearms, knife and drugs charges.

Yildiz was jailed for four years and two months for cocaine and cannabis charges.

Burton-Devine was sentenced to 3 years and six months for possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Sindujan Chandran

Sindujan Chandran, 33, was convicted of selling crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis after being arrested at the scene of a raid in Westcliff.

Chandran came to the UK with his family aged 15 from Bahrain seeking asylum.

At his sentencing on August 12, at Basildon Crown Court, he was jailed for more than seven years and the Home Office will now consider whether he is deported out of the country.

Wayne Sullivan

Serial shoplifter, Wayne Sullivan, of Lime Court, Hockley, was jailed at Basildon Crown Court on August 12 for the violent incident as well as a spree of 14 robberies from Asda and Wilko stores. 

The 43-year-old left his victim - who is now scared to leave his home - with scars and serious injuries after the brawl in Ambleside Drive, Southend.

Sullivan was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison for robbery, possessing a bladed article, dangerous driving, and possession of an offensive weapon.
