These images show the vast Leigh House when it used to sit on The Broadway in Leigh in 1926.
A year later and the building was no more. It had been demolished to make way for the creation of make way for Broadway West.

The original picturesque 17th century building stood west of St Clement’s Church, at the top of Elm Road facing the Broadway.

Interestingly, the distinctive chimneys on the right of the building still exist on a house in Hadleigh as they were moved prior to the building being demolished.

The "now" image shows Broadway West as it stands today this day, bustling with shoppers and people enjoying the town.
The images show the period chimneys as seen from Streetview as they appear on the building to this day.
