A POWER outage at a major supermarket in Rayleigh has left freezers and chillers unavailable - leading to a drop in sales.
The busy chiller aisles of the Sainsbury’s Rayleigh Weir store were turned into a ghost town on Monday, with the see-through shutter blinds being pulled down.
It came as Morrisons, in London Road, Hadleigh, also faced a power outage that same day, leaving some of their chillers unavailable.

One woman who commented on a Facebook post relating to the issue at the Stadium Way store, claimed: “My other half does nights and, unfortunately, they all had to remove all stock last night as the fridge and freezers had been down too long.
“Sadly, nothing could be saved and even the staff had to work in dark for part of the night due to the ongoing issues.”
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We’re working hard to get our Rayleigh Weir store back to normal as quickly as possible and would like to thank our customers for their patience.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
