A man has died after a crash in an Essex town overnight.

Police were called to reports a vehicle had left the road and come to stop in a river in Burnt Mill Lane, Harlow, shortly after 10pm yesterday (September 21).

Two people – both men in their 20s – were pulled out of the vehicle and taken to hospital.

Police have confirmed that, sadly, one of the men has died.

The other remains in a serious condition.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "At this stage we don’t believe another vehicle was involved but we are investigating the circumstances which led up to the incident.

"If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.
