Sections of a major road near Rayleigh town centre have been identified for surface improvement works which will be phased with temporary closures.

Work on parts of the A129 High Street and Eastwood Road will be carried out overnight with the support of temporary road closures between 8pm and 5am.

Essex Highways says restrictions will be removed during the daytime so that normal traffic flows can resume, to reduce inconvenience as much as possible.

Road closures for these works are necessary as machine surfacing requires planing off the existing carriageway layer and removing the material from site.

Traffic restrictions will be adjusted according to activities taking place and pedestrian access will remain unaffected.
