A SERIOUS incident near Thorpe Esplanade has provoked a major emergency response as two helicopters, eight ambulances, and several police cars swarmed to the scene on the seafront.
The Echo understands two helicopters – one from the coastguard rescue service, and another from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance – landed near Thorpe Bay Gardens earlier on Thursday evening in response to the incident.
A member of the public told the Echo they saw as many as eight ambulances and several police cars on the scene.
It is understood Thorpe Bay Gardens has also been closed off.
Essex Police, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have all been contacted for further information.
