Paralympian Jody Cundy has issued a health update over fears he may miss the third live show of Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.

The 44-year-old who is partnered with Jowita Przystał danced an intense Paso Doble to Thunderstruck by AC/DC last week.

But it’s unclear whether he will perform on Saturday (October 7) as he revealed he has an infection in his amputated leg.

He explained to hosts Janette Manrara and Fleur East on Strictly: It Takes Two last night (October 5): “I got home on Tuesday night (after rehearsals), took my leg off, and thought, 'that's quite sore,' but didn't think too much of it, but cleaned it, bathed it, made sure it was all ok.

"But then I got up about four o'clock in the morning, and it was warm, swollen.

"And I was like, 'that's getting infected, I need to see somebody about it.'"

Jody Cundy says he has missed rehearsals for Strictly this week

Jody said that he was prescribed antibiotics after going to hospital but on Wednesday morning his amputated leg wouldn’t fit in his prosthetic leg.

He added: “It is healing, and it is getting better, but at the moment I'm still not able to get my leg on.”

Jody said the infection has meant he has missed both Wednesday and Thursday's rehearsals this week.

On being asked to take part in Strictly, Jody previously told the media: “For me, it's a bit of an honour at the moment.”

"I just ride a bike, I've swum and won a few medals.

“But to be invited to be one of the celebrities, that means I must have made it."

Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6.20pm on Saturday, October 7.
