CONSTRUCTION on new flats surrounded by “stunning open countryside” in Basildon have almost been completed and are now on the market – with residents set to move in next year.

The “desperately needed” new flats are being built at Westley Green, in Ewing Gardens, and are just minutes away from Langdon Hills Country Park.

The developer believes the site is the “perfect location” for residents trying to escape the “hustle and bustle” of the town centre.

Andrew Schrader, Conservative councillor responsible for housing, said: “New housing is always welcome, so it is good news.

“It is desperately needed and hopefully these will be valuable new homes that local people can take advance of and get a place of their own.

“It is a very challenging market so more homes ready, the merrier.”

Redrow is behind the construction of the 18 new apartments, which consist of a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes.

The firm believes the first new residents will move in to the homes in January 2024.

According to Redrow, the expansive interiors are designed to complement “modern living”, with additional amenities such as washer-dryers and fitted wardrobes.

Eight properties boast balconies or an amenity space, allowing buyers to take advantage of the outside space that surrounds each apartment.

Prices range from £246,000 to £302,000.

Kerry McCoubrey, sales manager at Redrow Eastern, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of two new blocks of apartments at Eastern Quarter Westley Green.

“For new families and those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Westley Green is a perfect location with easily accessible transport links, while still being surrounded by stunning open countryside.

“It is also close to great primary schools like Great Berry Primary and Holy Family Roman Catholic School, as well as leisure facilities, shops, and restaurants in Basildon.”

The new mini-village is located by Langdon Hills, an area known for being one of the most sought-after in Basildon and for its “abundance of open green space”.

Most notably, just minutes from the community is the Langdon Hills Country Park, a 400-acre expanse of natural land, with panoramic views over the Thames Estuary. To find out more or to register your interest, visit: www.redrow.co.uk/developments/eastern-quarter-at-westley-green-langdon-hills-432801
