New data has revealed Southend Council made £6.4million in profit from parking fees and fines in the latest financial year.

As the data, which comes from the UK Government’s Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, has been revealed, we've decided to list the most expensive and cheapest car parks in an effort to save Southend drivers some pennies.

The charging period in each zone is from 8am to 6pm Monday to Sunday, making parking free during the evening and early hours.

Here is how much each car park across the borough will set you back*:

Zone 1a

These are the city's most expensive car parks, costing visitors £2.80 for up to one hour, £5.50 for up to two and £8.30 for three.

  • Eastern Esplanade Car Park
  • Fairheads Green Car Park
  • Seaway Car Park
  • Shorefield Road Car Park
  • Thorpe Esplanade Car Park

Zone 1b

This is the borough's second most expensive zone. Drivers pay £1.20 for up to one hour, £2.40 for up to two and £3.60 for three.

Zone 2 

Motorists pay £1.10 to park in the following Southend car parks for up to one hour, £2.20 for two hours and £3.30 for up to three.

  • Baxter Avenue Car Park (Bays 89 to 107 only)
  • Beecroft (Upper) Car Park
  • Belton Gardens (North and South Car Parks) 
  • Civic Centre (North and East Car Parks)
  • Elm Road Car Park
  • Leigh Foundry Car Park
  • Leigh Marshes Car Park
  • North Street Car Park
  • Shoebury Common (North and South Car Parks)
  • Shoebury East Beach Car Park
  • Short Street Car Park
  • Southchurch Park East
  • Thorpe Bay Broadway Car Park
  • Victoria Wharf High Street Car Park

Zone 3

Rayleigh Road is the only car park in this zone, where parking is free for up to one hour and £2.20 for up to two.
