ESSEX has been the victim of some of the worst potholes over the years, according to residents.
This week, we asked Echo Facebook users, “where is the most dangerous pothole in our area” currently.
Here is what some readers had to say:
The most common comment was simply “everywhere”.
However, that aside, here is a list of the roads in particular mentioned – in no particular order.
1. Fortune of War – both sides.
2. Broadmayne – near the traffic lights.
3. Canvey Way, Canvey.
4. Craylands.
5. Roundacre roundabout.
6. Miles Gray Road, Basildon.
7. York Road, Southend.
8. Romsey Road, Benfleet.
9. Kennel Lane, Billericay.
10. Church Road, Hockley.
Earlier this year, Essex County Council announced an extra £3 million to carry out more maintenance and repair work in Essex.
They stated that the funding will be targeted towards road surface repairs and treatments.
It was in addition to Essex Highways’ £35 million 2023/24 maintenance budget and an extra £9 million announced in February.
Additional crews were also added to the Essex Highways team to help meet the volume of repairs required.
