Comedian Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer have been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after failing to impress judges and viewers in week 5 of the show.

The contestant joined the 2023 series alongside the likes of Bad Education star Layton Williams and Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murphy.

This week saw the third, fourth, fifth and sixth 10s of the series with Layton and his professional dance partner Nikita scoring three of these.

This weekend also saw the notable absence of actress Amanda Abington who was forced to miss the show for "medical reasons".

A representative for the BBC programme said: "Due to medical reasons Amanda Abbington will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week."

Eddie Kadi eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after failing to impress judges

Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer scored just 24 points and were forced to dance off against Love Island's Zara McDermott and Graziano.

However, they were unsuccessful and were ultimately eliminated from the show by Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke.

Revel Horwood previously criticised comedian Eddie Kadi for being a “little bit awkward and very turned in as well” during his samba to Calm Down by Rema ft. Selena Gomez.

He said: “The footwork was very sloppy… It also lacked flow… You know how to work the crowd so build (on) that, darling.”

This follows on from the elimination of other celebrities such as Family Fortune's presenter Les Dennis and Paralympic gold medalist Jody Cundy.

Strictly Come Dancing continues every Saturday and Sunday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
