A spokesman for Rayleigh Vets4Pets shared on social media: "Recently our staff have been subject to an increase in verbal abuse and threatening behaviour from our clients. All of our staff from our front of house clients care advisors to our vets and nurses work extremely hard to ensure we provide the best care for your pets.
"We fully understand you may be worried or concerned about your pets but this does not give you the right to be rude or threatening towards our staff.
"Please be kind to all of our staff as we are all human and doing our jobs.
"Any abuse we receive may result in us asking you to find alternative veterinary care for your pet to protect our staff's mental health."
Pet owners shared their support for the vets in the comments, with many hailing the "friendly" and "helpful" staff.
