Leigh Broadway is full of artisan cafes and restaurants serving great food, but occasionally only pub food will do.
Luckily, the Broadway is served by some great pubs including Sarah Moore, The Broadway and Mariners Court.
I headed to The Mariners Court Pub on a sunny but chilly Friday in search of pub grub done well.
Once inside the pub there was a nice, lively atmosphere and was filled with people meeting for lunch others enjoying after work catch ups.
The pub has an attractive interior, it retains its cosy pub feel but is also modern with tasteful décor such as comfy seats, patterned wallpaper, framed artwork and a feature flower ceiling.

At the start of the year the pub underwent an extensive renovation project to refresh the look of the pub which had not had work done for 20 years.
As part of the works the old bar was ripped out and replaced with a state-of-the-art granite bar.
New seating areas were put in as well as new tiles and carpet and the outside was refreshed.
Looking at the menu the pub has dishes like Ploughman’s for two, homemade pie and mash, chicken Kiev, burgers, hand battered halloumi and chips and king prawn and chorizo linguine.
A friendly member of staff took my food order for the prawn linguine, and I took a seat by the window, perfect for people watching on the busy road.
When the dish arrived is looked very appetising with a lovely aroma of chorizo.

The linguine was coated with a layer of cheese and there was spinach running though it and a generous amount of prawns and chunks of chorizo.
It was piping hot and the sweet juicy prawns, spicy chorizo and the tangy white wine and cream sauce, which coated every strand of the pasta, made for a great combination.
I was kicking myself slightly that I hadn’t ordered a side of bread to mop up the pool of tasty sauce at the bottom of the dish.
It was a very satisfying pub lunch, executed really well. I opened the door to the pub and left the laughing and chatting behind, as I headed back out onto Leigh Broadway.
