A huge greenfield site in Essex is set to be home to an Ibiza-inspired music festival weekend over the coming years.

Clockstock is set to be held on June 28 and 29 at Boyton Hall Farm, Roxwell Road – the same site  used by Essex Young Farmers for their annual show.

Clockstock, led by legendary UK club brand Clockwork Orange, had been held last year at Chelmsford Race Course with around 15,000 people attending the 90s party.

Clockstock 2023 featured huge international headliners such as Masters At Work, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Adamski and Tall Paul.

A statement to Chelmsford City Council,  which has received a premise licence application, said: “The licence application is for the annual ‘Clockstock’ two-day event to be held on  June 28 and 2024 and thereafter, on a weekend in June or July in subsequent years, subject to three months’ prior notice to the Licensing Authority each year.”

Organisers say the event will have six stages, funfair, street food village, bar areas and stalls.

There will also be a pre-booked shuttle bus service from Chelmsford Station, which could also be used for people staying in Chelmsford hotels.

There will also be a pre-booked return travel bus services from: Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster, Brentwood, Billericay, Basildon, Southend, Leigh-on-Sea, Colchester, Braintree and Grays.

In addition there will be a dedicated taxi drop-off and collection area with easy access for drivers alongside a “vast” onsite car park.

Tickets go on sale from Friday November 10.

The news comes just after rival dance festival organisers Creamfields announced it will not return to Hylands Park in 2024.

The dance music festival has been hosted in Essex for two years – but organisers are now merging their two events into one in the north.

The news comes as a blow for the Chelmsford borough due to the business the festival brought to the city. Chelmsford City Council have confirmed it will be looking at other event options for the park next year as it still has a contract with the promoters, and that it “wishes Creamfields well” for future events.
