Motorists are reportedly facing "severe delays" on the A127 today - which are increasing.

There are reports of slow traffic on the A127 Southend-bound this afternoon, with issues first reported at 9.47am.

The AA has reported increasingly "severe delays" on the major south Essex road between the A132 at Nevendon and the A1245 (Fairglen Interchange).

It is reporting an average speed of five miles per hour.

Google Maps shows there has been a crash near the Dick Turpin pub, however this is not confirmed.

This section of the A127 is part of the diversion route for Runwell Road roadworks, which are in place until November 9.

The traffic has delayed popular seafood stall Winkles Seafood's opening this morning, as they shared on Facebook: "Currently stuck in traffic on a127...approaching Rayleigh turn off for Makros run....will be 20 minute delay for opening."
