AN APPEAL has been launched after a man was "threatened with a knife" during an alleged robbery in Rayleigh.

Essex Police is appealing for witnesses following an alleged robbery in Grove Park, Rayleigh. 

At around 4:30pm on Wednesday, October 25, officers were called to reports that a man had been approached by another.

Following which threats were made by a male presenting a flick style knife, demanding the victim handed over his bike.

The man, who has been described as 19/20-years-old, and wore a grey coat, navy blue jogging bottoms and black gloves, was handed the bike, and he rode off with it.

The bike was later abandoned, and thanks to a member of the public, the owner was notified, and it has since been recovered.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an alleged robbery in Rayleigh, during the late afternoon of Wednesday 25 October.

"PC 80467 Robinson of Castle Point and Rochford would like to hear from anyone living in, or driving through the areas of Grove Road, Trinity Road, Eastwood Road, Daws Heath Road and Roach Avenue, that may have witnessed the event, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage.
