It has revealed today flights to two popular holiday destinations - including holidaymaker favourite Alicante - have been added to easyJet's summer schedule at Southend Airport.

The leading airline put its flights for next summer on sale in September, leaving some customers disappointed as Alicante and Paris were left out of the schedule.

Flights from as early as April up until September 1 were made available to give customers the opportunity to book early and get the best fares for next summer. However, the schedule only include Palma from May 31, Faro from May 1, Malaga from April 3 and Amsterdam through to September.

Southend Airport's team reassured its followers it remained hopeful the destinations would be added to the summer 2024 flight schedule in the coming weeks as it continued to be updated.

Now, almost two months later, their prayers have been answered, as summer flights to Alicante and Paris from Southend are now on sale with tickets up to August 30 available from £26.

Some sunseekers still complained over the flight times, but a Southend Airport spokesman shared: "Yesterday there were no flights on sale for summer 2024, today there are two! We're taking that as a win."

The airport has also unveiled its largest winter schedule in four years this winter with flights to a wide range of popular destinations from city breaks to Amsterdam and Paris to the alpine beauty of Geneva and Grenoble.

Last week, bosses have revealed they have had an encouraging “level of interest” in the sale of the business to a new owner.

Esken, previously known as the Stobart Group, is in advanced talks to sell the renewable energy leg of the company. Once that is complete, auctioning off Southend Airport will become the firm’s number one priority and a business update revealed there has been an “encouraging level of initial interest received in relation to the airport”.
