A man was taken to hospital after an incident on the tracks at Basildon Station this morning which caused widespread disruption.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line near Basildon station at 4.30am today (17 November) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital for injuries which are not currently believed to be life threatening."

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

c2c were forced to delay trains for for an hour this morning due to the incident on the tracks, with normal services resuming at 6.24am. 

c2c advises customers delayed by more than 15 minutes to claim compensation through their delay repay scheme. 

Following the incident this morning, a c2c spokesman shared on X: "Disruption caused by trespassers on the railway at Basildon has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem.

"If you have been delayed by more than 15 minutes you can claim compensation through our Delay Repay scheme."
