A LEADING Southend Hospital cancer nurse is set to help influence care across the country in a new role.
Emma Chappel, a urology oncology cancer nurse specialist, has been elected as the next president of the British Association of Urology Nurses (BAUN) to help new and existing specialist nurses in that field.
She will begin her four-year term of office later this month where she will be vice-president for the first year before becoming the president, as well as continuing her role at the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
Emma said: “I’m blown away. I absolutely love the work I do for BAUN. It’s an honour to lead the charity and to take the organisation forward.
“One of the big things we’re doing at the moment is developing the educational framework for urology nurses, which we hope to complete in the next year. This will help urology nurses – whether they are already quite experienced or if they are new to the speciality - to develop and progress.”
