Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after a man was attacked from behind and struck to the head in Southend city centre.

Essex Police is appealing for information after the attack at the junction of Heygate Avenue and Alexandra Street.

A man reporting being approached from behind and struck to the head on Saturday, October 28, at about 8.15pm.

He attended Southend Hospital for treatment and continues to recover. 

A spokesman for the force said: "We are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have relevant doorbell or dashcam footage, to come forward.
