MPs approved the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill last night at second reading by 313 votes to 269, majority 44.
The division list released immediately after the Commons vote contained 312 names for the ayes.
That would mean there were 37 Conservatives MPs who did not record a vote. This does not automatically equate to an abstention, as some MPs will have permission to be away, but in many cases it will be.
Here is a breakdown of how the south Essex MPs voted:
AYES:
- Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point.
- Anna Firth, MP for Southend West.
- Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock.
- John Baron, MP for Basildon and Billericay.
- Jackie Doyle-Price, MP for Thurrock.
NO VOTE:
- Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford.
- Sir James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East.
