SEVERAL south Essex companies and businessmen were named and shamed by the Government in 2023 after failing to pay their tax bills.
The Publishing Details of Deliberate Defaulters (PDDD) scheme gives information on people and companies handed financial penalties for failing to comply with tax obligations or deliberately filing errors in tax returns.
Details are published when a person or business has made at least one deliberate default on more than £25,000, according to HMRC.
The list is updated every three months before the information is removed after a year.
Updates were given in March, June, September and December last year.
Here are the people and companies from south Essex listed:
Adrian Vlad
Company director Adrian Vlad, of Whitmore Way, was named in an update published on September 21.
Vlad was shown to be hit with a penalty totalling £57,224.73.
He racked up defaults amounting to £91,559.60 between April 2016 and April 2020.
Nova Inc Ltd
Nova Inc Ltd, which formerly traded as The Harbour restaurant in Thorpe Bay Broadway, was named in an update on June 21.
The business racked up defaults amounting to £39,184.61 between April 2020 and April 2021
It has been ordered to pay penalties of £29,388.45.
Mark Anthony Collier
Fencing subcontractor Mark Anthony Collier, formerly of Abbey Close, Hullbridge, and High Street, Southminster, was also named in the update published in September.
He was handed a penalty of £41,448.06, over defaults of £62,327.93 between April 6, 2019 to April 5, 2022.
A.B.V Southeast Ltd
Wholesaler of beverages and food, ABV Southeast Ltd, formerly of The Capstan Centre, Thurrock Park Way, Tilbury, was listed in June for defaults of £475,924.03 between January 2015 and December 2017.
The firm was ordered to pay penalties of £252,955.20.
