Part of the A127 has now been closed due to flooding after photos showed a car was left abandoned in floodwater this morning.
One lane has been closed on the A127 Southend-bound, as well as the slip road to the B186, due to the flooding.
Drivers are facing congestion back to the M25, junction 29, and also on the motorway's slip roads

The Met Office issued a 15-hour weather warning yesterday for heavy rain, which was in place until 3am today, with the experts predicting that roads and buildings could be left flooded.
Flood warnings are in place for south Essex, with concerns about high river levels caused by the heavy overnight rain.
The Environment Agency has warned of minor flooding affecting land, roads and riverside areas, with a warning put in place a 7.12pm yesterday and continuing to today.
