FLOOD alerts have been issued across parts of the Essex coast including Southend seafront.
The Environmental Agency has issued two amber alerts meaning “flooding is possible – be prepared”.
There is expected to be minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths between 2:15pm and 4:15pm this afternoon.
The fist warning covers the Essex coast from Leigh to and including Hadleigh Marshes, and Two Tree Island.
A second amber flood alert has also been issued covering the Essex coast from Shoebury, to and including Southend seafront, from Thorpe Esplanade to Chalkwell Esplanade, including Southchurch Park.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard Southend said: “Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger.
“Should you see anyone in trouble on or near the coast, don’t hesitate to dial 999.”
A spokesman for the Environmental Agency added: “We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate.”
