A LEIGH girl has secured the role of a lifetime as she gets ready to star in the new season of Tracy Beaker reboot – The Dumping Ground.

Robyn Elwell, 12, is set to appear in a new season of hit show on CBBC, set to premiere today at 6pm and on iPlayer, where she will play new series regular Erin.

Robyn has been training at Leigh’s Singer Stage School since the age of four and has previously landed roles in Matilda the Musical on the West End, The Lost Daughter Netflix film and is the current voice of Peppa Pig’s Pedro Pony.

Robyn said: “It was fun. I got to wake up and do what I love every morning, which is very lucky. It is hard work though, too, as you finish the day at 7pm and learn new lines every day.

“I was away from home for six months, we did it one week at a time and we came back for the weekend, so you had one day at home. It was like a sleepover, which is quite fun.

“Everyone looked after us. It was fun and I am going to watch the new episode tomorrow as I haven’t seen it put together.

“The best bit of this experience has been making friends. Everyone is amazing, the crew is great and you build friendships. It is like a big family.

“Everyone is like a sibling. We all lived in a house together and I shared my room with a girl who was like a sister to me.”

Robyn added that while it was difficult to be away from her family, it was like other filming expeditions in Greece.

She said: “It was strange because I used to watch The Dumping Ground when I was younger.I am very excited because no one has seen the new episodes, and no one knew I was in it.

“The new storylines are really good.”

Season 11 of The Dumping Ground will be available on iPlayer and CBBC at 6pm tonight.
