Part of the Dartford Crossing has re-opened after a police-led incident - but long delays remain on the M25 in Essex.

The Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Bridge was shut southbound before 5pm this afternoon due to a "police incident", causing severe delays on the M25 in south Essex.

The bridge has since re-opened but long delays remain on the approach from junction 28 in Brentwood, adding at least 70 minutes to normal journey times.

There are also severe delays around Thurrock, Purfleet, Aveley and on the A13, A1306 and roads around Lakeside

Essex Police has now confirmed the incident was a "broken down vehicle", which National Highways will be dealing with.
