MOTORISTS have complained of two-hour queues in Maldon Road to get to Colchester Zoo after the venue advertised tickets at just £10 per person.

Reports surfaced on social media on Sunday of visitors being held up in tailbacks in Warren Lane and Maldon Road.

On Saturday, Colchester Zoo published a post on social media advertising pre-booked tickets for just £10 per person.

But the popularity of the offer looks to have contributed to huge traffic queues, with people writing on X to share their frustration at being unable to get to the zoo for the day.

One account, @schogan310, wrote at 12.27pm: “@ColchesterZoo what's going on today? I've spent £50 on tickets and been sat on traffic for over an hour 1km from car park.

“Will we get in or get parked? Will we get a refund?

“We only have until 4pm so this all feels like wasted time and money – and you're not answering the phone!

Another account, @bluetractor, wrote half an hour later: “If you're thinking about going to Colchester Zoo today, don't bother.

“Two mile queues in all directions going nowhere.”
