A stolen Range Rover was recovered less than an hour after it was stolen from a driveway as it crashed following a police chase near Lakeside.

Police were called shortly before 12.24am today reporting the theft of the luxury SUV from a driveway in the area of Main Road, in Hockley. 

Officers were on the tail of the stolen Range Rover and in pursuit within ten minutes after swift work.

It crashed in West Thurrock Way, Grays, and one person, a 21-year-old man, was detained by 12.41am. 

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Investigative work continues in this case to locate other persons of interest.
